The Wellies were set up in Jan 2006 to build an informal expat network based locally in Wellington, specifically for IT professionals. We aim to provide this network in a spirit of goodwill, assistance and support. As of June '08 we have over 550 members, of which around 250 are in Wellington.

**August 5th 2008** The Wellies have made an tentative proposal to become the 'Expatriate arm' of Unlimited Potential - www.up.org.nz. The main reason behind this is that they have an effective structure for managing such a large number of members, with regular committee meetings and support. Unlimited Potential also complement The Wellies aims extremely well, in that we support people when they first arrive in town, however Unlimited Potential provides an ongoing ICT community for them to tap into once expats are settled.
The monthly Wellies meetings are on hold until our direction is clarified further and we would like any feedback that members may have on this matter. Please contact us using the link on the right and let us know how you would like the Wellies to evolve to better support its members. |

"Wellington is to Auckland what Melbourne is to Sydney, and what San Francisco is to Los Angeles. It has character instead of homogeneity; it is compact, not sprawling; it is quietly confident, not brash and in-your-face...Wellington is a diverse and sophisticated place that is too often left off the tourist trail."
